Ancestral Songs (2007)

After 19 years with Figgy Duff, and a solo career spanning 12 years, Pamela Morgan has released her third solo album, entitled "Ancestral Songs." "Ancestral Songs" finds Morgan revisiting her traditional roots, presenting 10 songs that she learned in the 70's from traditional singers, and arranging them for guitar.

These are songs that arrived with the settlers from England and Ireland, surviving many more generations in Newfoundland, taking on their own character, and interpreted by one of Newfoundland's finest. The album is sparse, elegant, and lovely, with just Morgan's tasteful guitar and eloquent voice, "a voice that lifts you up and lays you down on a bed of thoughts and dreams"; and one guest musician, fiddler Chris Leslie (FAIRPORT CONVENTION) on four tracks.
