Dr. Pamela Morgan is offering music lessons to a limited number of private students. The focus is on mature students interested in traditional music, and covers guitar, piano, whistle, vocal, arrangement, composition, instrumentation, production techniques, or any combination thereof. “Morgan’s Music” will customize instruction to meet the needs and wishes of individual students.
While theory and sight reading instruction are available, the focus is on the oral tradition; on how to translate the music one hears to an instrument, and to encourage the imaginitive use of an instrument by ear.
For singers, Dr. Morgan draws from her vast knowledge of traditional songs to find songs to suit individual voices.
For pianists, there is Dr. Morgan's manuscript "Ballads", with piano arrangements for select songs, and upon request, student and instructor can also make new arrangements for songs, or study a manuscript chosen by the student.
There are two six week semesters per year; January/ Februrary, and October/ November. We begin with a consultation to determine the course of instruction, then proceed with one forty-five minute session a week for six weeks.
The studio is at 12 Mount Royal Avenue, and the cost per semester is $300.
