Wayward Heart- Pamela Morgan

I had a song that didn't make it this time, but "wayward heart" was a lyric in it which I really liked. I've often pondered the disconnect between intellect and emotion - how they rarely see eye to eye. And I love the sound of an upright piano sparsely played, as I've heard a few artists do over the years. It's interesting to note that two of the musicians who came into the studio separately called this a "slow moving river." I love that. I have Mark Lee to thank for suggesting harmonica, and PJ Wright for doing it right!

My wayward heart has a mind of its own
What can I do to make it come home
Running to trouble, up to no good
Chasing down dreams like nobody should
Wayward heart with a mind of its own

My wayward heart has a mind of its own
Restless and running, destined to roam
Listens to wind, sighs with the sea
Then looking back and laughing at me
Wayward heart with a mind of its own

Soars with the eagle, cries with the loon
Smiles with the sun, and rides with the moon
Wayward heart with a mind of its own
Wayward heart, please come home
